Install the new Windows app
Install the new Windows app, a beta beside the current Windows app. Where to download it, what the first start copies, and how to go back.
The new Windows app uses the same interface as the macOS app. It is offered as a beta beside the current Windows app, and it is a separate download. You download it from your Dashboard, under Windows (new app).
Three things to know before you start:
- Use one app at a time. Close the new app before you start the current app. The current app closes the new app at its start, without a save.
- Unpack the ZIP into its own folder. Do not start the app from inside the ZIP, and do not use Program Files.
- The first start copies your data. You select the folder of your current app, and the new app copies the data from it. Your current app and its folder do not change.
Install
- Download the Windows (new app) ZIP from your dashboard.
- Extract the whole ZIP into a new folder. Keep all extracted files together.
- Open
RestocksAIO.exe. The Windows x64 package includes its .NET runtime; no separate runtime installation is required. - Use your existing licence. On the same Windows PC, the new app uses the same hardware identity as the current app.
Bring your existing data
Close the current app before switching your active work to the new app. On first start, select the folder containing your previous RestocksAIO.exe, Profiles folder and saved data. Cancel the folder picker if you are starting with a new installation.
This first import copies your saved accounts, inventory, tasks and supported settings into %APPDATA%\RestocksAIO. It leaves the original folder intact and does not overwrite files already present in the new app's data folder. An expired marketplace session may still require reconnecting that account.
If you cancel the folder picker, you can import later. See the next section.
Import from a RestocksAIO folder later
You can bring the data of another RestocksAIO folder into the new app at any time. The folder can be a folder of the current app or the data folder of another new-app installation.
This import replaces the accounts, database, Bricker tasks and settings of this app. It does not merge them. RestocksAIO first saves the current data to DatabaseBackups\before-import-(date).
- Close the RestocksAIO that uses the other folder.
- Open Settings → Other. Under Database Backups, click Import from a RestocksAIO folder….
- Select the folder that holds
license.keyorProfiles. - Check the facts in the dialog: Folder, Accounts, Database, Bricker tasks, Licence and Settings.
- Click Import and restart. RestocksAIO copies the folder, saves and restarts with the imported data.
The source folder is only read. It is never changed.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| That folder is not a RestocksAIO folder. Choose the folder that holds license.key or Profiles. | Select the folder that contains those items, not a folder above or below it. |
| That is the folder this app already uses. | Select the other folder. |
| An earlier import has not finished. Restart RestocksAIO to finish it first. | Close and open RestocksAIO, then start the import again. |
| Not enough free disk space | Free the space the message names, then try again. |
| Could not read (file). Close the RestocksAIO that uses that folder and try again. | Close the other app and try again. |
This button is in the Windows app only. For a Mac, see Install on macOS.
Updates and rollback
The current app keeps its existing update channel. Moving to the new app requires this one-time download; subsequent new-app updates use its own Windows channel.
Keep your old installation folder until you are satisfied with the new app. To return to the current app, close the new app and launch the old executable. The old data is a snapshot from the time of import: later edits made in the new app are not copied back automatically. Do not run both apps' automated marketplace tasks at the same time.
The new app prevents a second new-app instance from using the same data folder.
Use one app at a time
- Each app keeps its own data after the first start. A change in one app does not appear in the other.
- Do not run Bricker tasks in both apps. Two apps would reprice the same listings.
- A WeTheNew or Laced account can ask you to sign in again when you change apps.
- Start a browser login, for example StockX or eBay, from the app that you started last, with the other app closed.
- The new app updates at its start. To go back, close it and start the current app.
