Connect eBay
Connect an eBay seller account to RestocksAIO in the browser and set its publishing defaults.
You connect eBay in your browser. You do not type a password or paste a code in RestocksAIO. After the connection, you choose the business policies and the location that your eBay listings use.
The eBay tools are included in Premium.
eBay decides which accounts can sell and which categories they can list in. RestocksAIO works within the permissions of your eBay seller account. eBay charges its normal listing fees when a listing goes live.
Supported eBay sites
RestocksAIO works with six eBay sites: eBay US, UK, Germany, Spain, France and Italy. For these six, the app has the fee table, the size wording and the category tree. The eBay site is the one your eBay account is registered on. You do not choose it in RestocksAIO.
Before you connect
- Your eBay account must be a seller account.
- Business policies must be turned on for the account. In eBay Seller Hub, open Account → Business policies.
- The account needs one fulfilment policy, one payment policy and one return policy for its eBay marketplace.
- The account needs one enabled inventory location (a merchant location). RestocksAIO does not create it.
- On macOS, open RestocksAIO from Applications at least once. The browser needs the installed app to return to RestocksAIO.
Connect the account
- Open Settings → Accounts.
- Select eBay, then click Connect account.
- Click Connect eBay. Your browser opens the eBay consent page.
- Approve access.
- Allow the website to open RestocksAIO. The app completes the connection automatically.
While you approve, the button reads Waiting for browser…. Keep RestocksAIO open. The wait stops after 3 minutes. If you closed the browser, click Cancel and connect again.
Under After connecting, the box Scan seller listings after connecting reads the listings you already have on eBay. RestocksAIO then offers the unlinked matches in Linking.
Permissions
eBay asks for these permissions when you click Connect eBay:
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
sell.inventory | Create and update offers. |
sell.account | Read and edit business policies. |
sell.fulfillment | Read orders and confirm shipment. |
sell.finances | Read payouts and fee lines. |
The account page lists each permission as granted or missing. A missing permission shows Scope missing with a Reconnect action.
Publishing defaults
Select the eBay account in Settings → Accounts and open Publishing defaults. Click Refresh to read the policies again from eBay.
| Field | What to choose |
|---|---|
| Fulfilment policy | The shipping policy for new listings. |
| Payment policy | The payment policy for new listings. |
| Return policy | The return policy for new listings. Every eBay offer on the account is blocked until you select one. |
| Merchant location | The location your items ship from. |
A field that is not set reads Not set and Required before publishing.
These values are fixed and shown for information:
- Default listing format: Fixed price.
- Default listing duration: Good 'Til Cancelled.
- Default category: Per product, from the catalog.
- Tax / VAT configuration: From your eBay account.
Click Save settings when the fields are set.
Listing photos, under the publishing defaults, holds the watermark and the preferred picture source of this account. Both are off until you set them. eBay has its own rules for pictures: read eBay's picture policy before you turn the watermark on. See Listing photos.
Create or edit a policy in RestocksAIO
Add, Edit and Delete are next to each policy field. The change is written to your eBay account.
| Policy | Fields |
|---|---|
| Shipping policy | Name, Description, Handling time, Domestic service, Free shipping or a cost, Ship internationally, International service and its cost. |
| Payment policy | Name, Description, Require immediate payment. |
| Return policy | Name, Description, Accept returns, Return period (14, 30 or 60 days), Return shipping (buyer or seller pays), Refund method (Money back or Store credit). |
Manage in Seller Hub opens the same policies on eBay. Presets saves a set of three policies under a name, so you can apply the set to an offer when you publish.
If the buttons read Reconnect to edit policies, the connection can only read policies. Reconnect the account to grant sell.account.
More than one eBay account
You can connect several eBay accounts. Each account has its own publishing defaults and presets. In the Publish window, each offer uses one account per channel. Set as default for eBay makes an account the first choice.
